When data provider supply data resources (datasets) to the NBN Atlas, they can supply metadata for the following:
the * indicates this information is mandatory for a data provider to include
- *Description - a general description of the data resource.
- Purpose - the purpose of the data resource or survey.
- Geographic Description - the geographic extent of the records.
- Temporal range - the earliest and latest record date in the resource
- Data Quality Description - accuracy, completeness, consistency and reliability of the data.
- *Data collection methods - the methods and techniques used in the creation of the data resource.
- Data Generalisations - description of any generalisations applied to the records.
- Information withheld - description of any information pertaining to the records that has not been shared.
- Data collection protocol name - the name of a standardised methodology used to collect the data.
- Data collection protocol documentation - description of the methodology or provide a link to an external website.
- *Citation - the text that should be used when the data resource is cited in publications or reports. Read more about citations here.
- Rights - additional rights or copyright information.
- License - the data licence assigned to the resource.
- *Contact information - a named contact/team/department and email address. This can be used to ask queries about the data, request if there is access to further information about the record.

You can find this information on the data resource page. You can navigate to a data resource page on the NBN Atlas via several means.

Via a record's details page
When completing an occurrence search on the NBN Atlas, you can view the record's details. On the record details page you can see what data resource a record is in. You can click on the data resource link to view the data resource page.

Via the data partner page
You can find the data partners who have shared occurrence records to the NBN Atlas from the homepage and by clicking on DATA AND PARTNERS and then Search a data partner.

From a data partner's page you can see their data resources by clicking on the Data resources tab. Click on a data resource's name to view the data resource page.

Via the dataset search
If you know the name of data resource, e.g., you have sourced it from a occurrence download you can use the dataset search to find the data resource page. Go to the NBN Atlas homepage, click DATA AND PARTNERS and Search NBN Atlas datasets.
